Peter Evans OAM

Principal and Notary Public

Admitted as a solicitor in 1969 and a partner at Harris Wheeler from 1971-1986 – Peter offers a vast experience and understanding of commercial matters. Also having acted at partner level for Newcastle City Council, Shortland Electricity, Hunter Presbytery of the Uniting Church, North New South Wales Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Australia, National Textiles Ltd., State Bank Ltd., Greater Building Society Ltd., Beneficial Finance, AGC Limited, Citibank Limited, ANZ Bank and other banks and financial institutions. He has acted for both plaintiffs and defendants in numerous actions in the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

A former board member of the State Chamber of Commerce and Industry and former council member of Newcastle Chamber of Manufactures. Past president Newcastle Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Inaugural and past Chairman of the Newcastle City Centre Committee. Deputy Chairman GH Varley Pty. Ltd. Board member of Newcastle & Hunter Business Chamber and Honorary Solictor.

Andrew Filby

B. Laws, Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and B. Arts. Andrew completed his law degree in 2005.

Andrew is a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, an honorary solicitor for the Newcastle Maritime Museum Society Inc. and a member of Newcastle Rotary.

Jodie Hillyard JP

Licensed Conveyancer

Jodie commenced her legal career as an office junior in 1989. Finding a passion for property law, she commenced studies at Macquarie University and completed a Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice.

Jodie specialises in subdivision developments, residential, commercial, industrial and rural conveyancing. She has acted for high profile developers and is greatly experienced in all aspects of property law.

Jodie is a Justice of the Peace and a Member of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers – NSW Division Ltd.

Cameron Bilinsky

Solicitor

The late Cameron Bilinsky held a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sydney and joined our firm after a long career as a partner in another Newcastle legal firm. He commenced practise in 1983 and has more than 30 years legal experience. Initially, he had a broad range of legal matters and ultimately specialised in accident compensation law before returning to general practise.

Cameron sadly passed away in June 2024. He is a much missed member and friend of this firm.
